Where due to outside circumstances or a unexpected factor the protagonist and the antagonist/rival/enemy would have to work together to overcome the crisis. the team up could be permanent or temporary. but should be used in order to deepen the plot or flesh out the 2 characters. another reason could also be for fan service.
